Live edge slabs

We are proud of our assorted stock of slabs, many native to the North Shore of Long Island. In order to make a flitch, all boards from the same tree are cut in sequential order with many having a natural edge. Cutting the tree in such a way creates matching boards, and the ability to create book matched boards, such that the same color and grain patterns are available for your projects. Slabs are tagged, numbered, and brought to our hoop house to be air dried for at least 18 months so that the true character of the grain is revealed when the excess moisture is removed. All slabs at the warehouse are kiln dried. Air dried slabs are available on request.

Slabs are sold as individual slabs or log sets.

dimensional lumber

Urban is a key distributor in unique lumber that is cut to pre-defined sizes. Dimensional lumber is rough sawn, planed, and typically smoothed so that it is ready for use in building applications. We carry a diverse stock of dimensional lumber on a regular basis and may be able to order additional varieties and sizes to suit your needs.
